Link Expiration Never Option

I would like to be able to set links to e-products to never expire. Now I have to specify a number of days, and if I set it too high, the link provided to the customer is invalid. I can't find documentation of how high the number of days can be set without the link becoming invalid, and tech support has been unable answer this question.
